Strawberry Blossoms

I am so excited to be releasing a new pattern after taking more than a year off.

Inspired by the little yellow flowers of the wild strawberry plants that grow in my backyard, this top is flutters in the breeze and reminds me of the little yellow flowers blooming on warm, sunny days. These delicate little flowers don’t bear fruit, but they thrive even in horrible conditions, like the shady, acidic clay soil in my backyard. This really hit home with me as I injured my hand last year and was unable to design for most of 2018. Strawberry Blossoms is the first pattern I worked after my injury and the tenacity of those little flowers really resonated with me.

Fit
Bust sizes 32 (35, 38, 41, 44) inches 82 (89, 97, 104, 112)
cm finished size. See schematic in photos for more measurements.  Larger sizes are currently in development (as of 9/29/21).

Recommended Ease: -3 to -1 inches -7.5 to -2.5cm at the bust. CoBaSi gives a VERY stretchy fabric at this gauge and I highly recommend negative ease across the bust. If you use a different yarn that gives you less-stretchy fabric you may want 0-2 inches 0-5cm of positive ease.

Sample: Model has a 39” bust and is wearing size 38”.

Suggested Yarn
Sample uses 680 (745, 810, 875, 940) yards 621 (681, 740, 800, 859) meters of CoBaSi yarn from Hikoo by Skacel, 55% Cotton, 21% Nylon, 16% Bamboo, 8% Silk, fingering weight yarn
Any fingering weight yarn will work, thought the fabric may be less stretchy.

Suggested Needles
US 3 3.25mm circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge, 24 inch 60cm length
US 1 2.25mm circular needle, same length as larger needle
Notions
Cable needle, tapestry needle, stitch markers, scrap yarn

Monomoy Sweater

I am so excited to finally release this pattern. This one was a labor of love for me, the first sweater I designed for both my boys.

Little boys in intricately cabled sweaters are just adorable in my eyes. With two little boys at home I couldn’t resist designing a cabled sweater for them to wear. The cable patterns in both the front and back split and the cables wind around the collar. A braid winds down the outside of the sleeves. Named for Monomoy Island off of Cape Cod, Massachusetts where the twisting shoals twine like the cables on this sweater.

Worked in Berocco Remix yarn – 30% Nylon, 27% Cotton, 24% Acrylic, 10% Silk, 9% Linen, 216 yards (198 meters) per skein, machine washable, pictured in Strawberry and Blue Denim

Skills Required
Pattern is worked bottom-up in the round and splits at the armholes to be worked back-and-forth. Sleeves are knit in the round with a short-row sleeve cap. Cables are used throughout the pattern.

Kid Who Has Everything Sweater

Here’s a new toddler sweater to share with you all. Made in a light-weight cotton, it can be worn as a layer in Spring and Fall, or as a jacket on cool summer evenings. It is classy enough to be worn on special occasions, yet casual enough to be paired with jeans on a cool day.

This project was inspired by a client who hired me to design & knit a gift for a friend’s child. The friends were a wealthy NYC couple and the new baby would want for nothing, so my clients thought a hand-made gift would be a good choice. Thus this classic sweater was born.

6sts x 8rows = 1 inch 2.5cm in Stockinette Stitch blocked loosely.
12m – 20” chest 50cm, 18m – 22” chest 55cm, 2T – 23” chest 58cm, 3T – 24” chest 61cm, 4T – 24.5” chest 62cm

Note:
In the 12m size there will not be enough stitches to fully complete the seed stitch panels on the front panels adjacent to the sleeves. After the first increase row you will be able to complete the seed stitch; after the second increase row you will be able to start the stockinette section between the seed stitch and the sleeves. Other sizes do not have this adjustment.

Three new Patterns waiting to be finished

After taking a much-needed break over the holidays (and recovering from my annual Christmas bought of bronchitis), I’m back at it! I’ve got 3 new patterns in various stages of completion, plus and oldy-but-goody that never got released, all waiting for me to finish them up and release them.

I’m using three fun new yarns – the blue cabled sweater is in Cascade’s Ultra Pima Fine, 100% Cotton. The gray tweed sweater is Remix, a unique blend from Berocco of 30% Nylon, 27% Cotton, 24% Acrylic, 10% Silk, & 9% Linen. And lastly the socks are Plymouth Yarn’s Diversity, which is an acrylic/polyester blend.

And the best part – all three are machine washable!

This Santa-themed hat that can be easily be knit up in a weekend. Worked in a small Feather & Fan pattern, this would be a great first lace project because all the stitches you need to know are knit, k2tog and yarn over. Also makes a great gift!

Men’s Cabled Work Gloves

IMG_3844_cableCloseUp Worked in a tough cotton, these gloves are meant to be used then tossed in the washing machine.  Inspired by my in-law’s need to take care of their horses mid-winter in Ocala, Florida (which gets surprisingly cold), yet maintain the ability to use their fingers in delicate maneuvers, these fingerless gloves have a cable to give them some pizazz but in their essence these are work gloves.

Here’s a brand-new pattern that you can easily complete in a weekend.  It’s a lovely little handkerchief with a daisy-stitch border.

Use a stretchy-plant-based yarn such as Queensland Collection’s Sugar Rush.  The soft sugar cane viscose is stretchy enough to make the daisy stitch easy and also soft enough to make handkerchief usage practical.

We recommend knitting this beauty in cotton to keep it light and breathable for your little one.May Flowers Dress  This pattern uses multiple yarn overs to create the larger circles in the center of the flowers.  In the following row, the 1styarn over is knitted while the 2nd is purled.

Also, we recommend NOT using a variegated yarn for the floral border.  Below, you can see why.  The floral border gets lost in the myriad of colors.

If you choose not to use the recommended kitchen cotton, you may want to adjust the straps. The kitchen cotton will keep the stockinette stitch straps flat, but a different yarn may not.
